Matt Dikeman, DVM, Diplomate ABVP

Medical Director

Dr. Matt Dikeman is a graduate of Texas A&M University in 1968 and College of Veterinary Medicine in 1969. He began his career with Brittmoore Animal Hospital in 1970. He and his wife, Sarah, were raised in  Spring Branch and returned to the area after graduation. He is a Diplomate through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (A.B.V.P.) and a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Over the years, Dr. Dikeman has become known within the community as the “friendly country doctor in the big city”. He has also become known as the “bulldog doctor” as he has treated and/or performed corrective surgery on numerous congenital bulldog conditions. Dr. Dikeman is also certified through the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program (PennHIP).  

Matt and his wife Sarah have two children, Neal and Rebecca, and four granddaughters. Neal and his wife live in Houston with daughters, Gwendolyn and Clara. Daughter Rebecca and her husband Mark are both veterinarians in Tennessee. They have two daughters, Kaitlyn and Madelynn.  Matt enjoys his two cats and his weekly trip to the ranch in Roberson county with his dog, Sandy, to tend to the cattle.

Kit Kampschmidt, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kit Kampschmidt is a 1983 graduate of Oklahoma State University. He joined Brittmoore Animal Hospital in 1984. He has an interest in canine reproduction and cryopreservation. He is a nationally recognized authority in these areas and has served as a consultant to other veterinarians through the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). He has been an invited speaker for national veterinary meetings, state and local veterinary associations, and many breed clubs.  He is a member of the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association and served on the board of directors for the Society for Theriogenology.

Kit and his wife Ann have two children, Jordan and Erin. Jordan is a medical doctor and lives in San Antonio. Erin is a lawyer living in Chicago and working for Rush University Medical Center. Ann is an active tennis player and runner. Kit enjoys tennis, reading, traveling and golf.

The Kampschmidt’s share their home with a French Bulldog named Dunston and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Winnie.

James Rieman, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Jim Rieman received a Bachelor’s in Biology degree from Loyola University in Baltimore and a Masters degree in Biology from Virginia Tech. He graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been involved in breeding and showing dogs for over 30 years, including several top-ranked dogs. Dr. Rieman’s other hobbies and interests include offshore fishing, birding, gardening, and photography.

Sharon Gunter, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Sharon Gunter was born and raised in Texas. She received her Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 2006 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in 2012.

Her professional areas of interest include client education, animal behavior, pathology, and surgery.

When outside of work include not in the clinic, Dr. Gunter enjoys drawing, spending time with family and friends, training her dogs, traveling, and Kendo (a Japanese fencing martial art). Along with her husband, the Gunter household includes “Remington”, a German shepherd/’coconut retriever’ mix, “Sonic” a Dutch Shepherd mix, “Tiwi”, a New Guinea Singing Dog, and a cat named “Odin”.

McKinlea Wells, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. McKinlea Wells is a 2012 cum laude graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from a small town in North Texas and graduated in 2008 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. Dr. Wells is excited to return to Brittmoore after having been away for a couple of years!

Her veterinary interests include canine reproduction, internal medicine (especially endocrinology), and soft tissue surgery. She is a member of TVMA and TAVP (Texas Academy of Veterinary Practitioners), where she receives over 50 hours of continuing education each year. The state-mandated minimum is 17 hours.

Dr. Wells is married to her husband, Stephen, a mechanical engineer, and they have two beautiful daughters, Anna and Vera, along with four black and tan mutts – Snickers, Lola, Twix, and Lily. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, refinishing furniture and other DIY projects around the house, playing piano, and hopes one day to get back into horseback riding!
